Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, The Oviatt is a one-of-a-kind historic venue for weddings and events. Built-in 1928 as a luxurious penthouse for James Oviatt, a notable figure of the Roaring '20s, this iconic Art Deco gem now welcomes up to 120 guests for unforgettable celebrations, expertly managed by Olive & Grand Event Management.
A JOURNEY THROUGH HISTORY
This building stands as the legacy of James Oviatt, a man whose retail journey began in 1911 when he partnered with Frank Alexander to establish the high-end Los Angeles clothing store, Alexander & Oviatt.
Inspired by Parisian Art Deco, Oviatt's vision led to the creation of this structure, which became both his family's residence and what he fondly referred to as the "castle of our dreams."
Designed by Joseph L. Feil and adorned with custom-made furniture from Paris, etched-glass windows by Gaetan Jeannin, and Lalique glass decor, the penthouse epitomized luxury.
THE PENTHOUSE
Inside the penthouse, couples will discover a study, living room, an elegant bedroom often used as a “getting ready room,” the original Art Deco bar and cocktail lounge — a perfect setting for cocktail hour.
Events at The Oviatt seamlessly flow between the penthouse and the two-story rooftop terrace. Guests can enjoy cocktails and conversation indoors before heading outside to celebrate under the stars, with stunning views of downtown’s skyline and city lights.

At the heart of The Oviatt is Olive & Grand Event Management, led by Gabe Sobol, an industry veteran with over 15 years of experience. Founded in 2021, Olive & Grand brings a personal touch to every event, ensuring each celebration is seamless and memorable. Gabe and his partner, Courtney, share a unique connection to The Oviatt, having celebrated their own wedding here. Their dedication and expertise ensure that every event at The Oviatt is executed flawlessly.
